An Edge Above the Rest

Sam Vigorita was one of the founding father's of the Main Line Fly-Tyers and for the past 20+ years has been a significant reason for the success of the club. He is an outstanding fly tyer and an extraordinary fly fisher. He knows the local fisheries and the pools of the Upper Delaware better than most of us know the marks on the back of our hands.

He is known for his enthusiasm for fly tying, fly fishing and his willingness to share his knowledge and teach others fly tying and fishing tactics. Over the years he has taught hundreds if not thousands of men, women and youngsters how to tye flys that catch fish! Each year he teaches two classes and demonstrates his techniques at our monthly club meetings.

Sam is now sharing some of the special (some call secret) flys he has developed from his experiences on the Upper Delaware over the last 25 years. Very few fly fishers spend more time on the Upper Delaware than Sam. These flys are honed and tested from many hours of observation and fishing.  They may not be entirely new, but they certainly are variations with an “edge” that separate the common traditional patterns from those that catch fish.
